Gavaskar Clarifies His Role
Gavaskar stated that he neither requested the appearance nor received any payment for participating in the show. He emphasized that his presence should not be misinterpreted as financial involvement or support.
Controversy Linked to Recent Comments
The backlash followed his recent remarks questioning Indian-owned franchises signing Pakistani players in overseas leagues. Critics accused him of inconsistency due to his earlier participation in a show featuring Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis.
“No Financial Contribution,” Says Gavaskar
Responding strongly, Gavaskar explained that ICC and ACC events distribute revenue among all nations and he does not directly fund any entity. He questioned how his role could be seen as contributing financially.
