Bihar Police have arrested six suspects in Begusarai following an encounter linked to the sensational jewellery robbery in Darbhanga earlier this week.
The arrests were made after a special task force and local police tracked the suspects based on intelligence gathered during the investigation of the Darbhanga heist.
The Darbhanga Robbery
A gang of armed men had stormed a jewellery shop in Darbhanga in broad daylight, looting jewellery and cash worth around ₹2 crore before fleeing the scene. The high-profile robbery had put local police under pressure to track down the culprits quickly.
Encounter and Arrests
Acting on leads, the police team confronted the suspects in Begusarai. In the ensuing encounter, six men believed to be part of the robbery gang were detained. One of the suspects was reportedly injured during the operation. All six are now in police custody.
Ongoing Investigation
Investigators are examining the suspects’ links to the Darbhanga robbery and possible involvement in other criminal activities. CCTV footage from the jewellery store and surrounding areas is being analysed to identify any remaining members of the gang.
The swift action has brought some relief to local traders and residents who were alarmed by the daring daylight robbery.
