Jaipur: The Congress has secured a major victory in the Rajasthan Anta Assembly by-election, delivering a significant blow to the BJP in a region considered a stronghold of former Chief Minister and BJP national vice-president Vasundhara Raje.
Congress candidate Pramod Jain Bhaya has won the Anta seat with 69,571 votes, defeating Independent candidate Naresh Meena and BJP’s Morp al Suman in what initially appeared to be a triangular contest.

- Naresh Meena (Independent): 53,423 votes
- Morp al Suman (BJP): 53,259 votes
The counting process for the Anta seat has been completed, and tabulation work is underway.
Political Impact
This victory is a setback for Vasundhara Raje, as her close aide Morp al Suman was representing the BJP in this election. Despite the perceived influence of Raje in the Anta region, Congress managed to secure a decisive win.
The Congress banked heavily on Bhaya’s political experience and former CM Ashok Gehlot’s influence. Gehlot’s last-minute campaigning appears to have strengthened Congress’s position among voters.
