The final picture of the Bihar Assembly elections is now clear. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is heading toward a landslide victory, leading in 202 out of 243 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan trails far behind with just 34 seats
NDA Gains Big, Opposition Faces Heavy Losses
Compared to the 2020 elections, the NDA has gained over 70 additional seats, whereas the Mahagathbandhan appears to be losing nearly the same number.
In the midst of this sweeping victory, Samrat Choudhary and Lalan Singh met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, indicating the alliance’s internal coordination ahead of government formation.
JDU and BJP Make Strong Comeback
The JDU, which had dropped to 43 seats last time, is now poised to secure over 80 constituencies.
The BJP, on the other hand, has emerged as the largest party, leading in 91 seats.
Mahagathbandhan Struggles for Relevance
Within the opposition alliance:
- The RJD is ahead in 27 seats
- The Congress is moving toward victory on just 4 seats
Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party and the VIP party have once again failed to open their account. Independents and smaller groups are ahead in 6 seats.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated NDA workers through a post on X, calling the result a strong message against those who “protect infiltrators.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the BJP headquarters in Delhi at 6 PM to address party supporters.
