Backdated Mark Sheet Scam: Govt Teachers Under SOG Scanner in Rajasthan

Jaipur: A major education and recruitment scam has come to light in Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur, where two universities have been accused of issuing backdated mark sheets and certificates, allegedly enabling candidates to secure government teaching jobs through fraudulent means. The case is now under investigation by the Rajasthan Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG). The revelations have raised serious concerns about systemic corruption, misuse of academic credentials, and the credibility of the education and recruitment system.

What Is the Case About?

According to sources, complaints had been pouring in for several months from students and job aspirants alleging that certain universities issued mark sheets and certificates with manipulated (backdated) issuance dates. These documents were allegedly used in:

Government teacher recruitment

Competitive examinations

Employment applications and academic verification

By using backdated academic records, candidates were able to meet eligibility criteria illegally, gaining unfair advantage over genuine applicants.

Taking cognisance of the complaints, Rajasthan Police initiated an SOG investigation, which has now expanded into a wider probe into academic document fraud networks.

How the Scam Operated

Preliminary investigations suggest that:

Candidates submitted backdated mark sheets and degrees during recruitment processes

These documents helped bypass cut-off dates, eligibility rules, and verification norms

Recruitment boards, universities, and examination agencies were misled through forged or manipulated academic timelines

Officials believe the case may involve middlemen, university officials, and beneficiaries, forming an organised racket similar to previous fake degree and certificate scams, including a major fake degree network busted earlier in Delhi.

SOG Action and Next Steps

The Special Operations Group (SOG) has intensified its probe and is preparing legal action against suspect universities, officials, facilitators, and intermediaries involved in issuing or procuring backdated academic documents.

Investigators are also scrutinising:

Candidates who used such documents

Recruitment records and verification logs

University approval and document issuance systems

Officials said strict action will be taken against all violators, including cancellation of appointments, criminal prosecution, and institutional penalties.
