Patna: The exit polls for the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections indicate a strong lead for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), suggesting that the ruling coalition is on track to return to power with a comfortable majority.
According to the Poll of Polls compiled from 16 different agencies, the NDA is projected to win around 154 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) is expected to secure around 83 seats. The remaining five seats may go to other parties and independents.
Making its electoral debut, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party appears to have had a limited impact, with projections suggesting a modest tally of 3–5 seats.
In comparison, during the previous 2020 Assembly Elections, the NDA had secured 125 seats, the Mahagathbandhan 110, and others 8. This year’s estimates thus indicate a gain of approximately 29 seats for the NDA and a corresponding loss of 28 seats for the opposition alliance.
The 2025 Bihar elections were held in two phases across 243 constituencies. The first phase saw a voter turnout of 65% across 121 seats, while the second phase recorded an even higher participation of 68.5% across 122 seats in 20 districts.
As the voting concluded at 5 pm on Tuesday, attention has now turned to the exit polls, which offer the first glimpse into the likely outcome of one of the most closely fought elections in recent years.
When Will the Final Results Be Declared?
Counting of votes for all 243 Assembly seats will take place on November 14, after which the final results will determine whether the NDA retains power or if the opposition can stage a surprise comeback.
