New Delhi: Senior CBI officer V. Chandrasekhar, who supervised the investigation into the high-profile RG Kar Medical College rape and murder case in Kolkata, has been awarded the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service. The prestigious honor was announced on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day of India.
At the time of the investigation, V. Chandrasekhar was serving as Joint Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Under his leadership, the investigation team efficiently handled the sensitive case, collected crucial evidence, and built a strong prosecutable case against the accused.
Officials stated that Chandrasekhar’s role was instrumental in ensuring a thorough, impartial, and evidence-based probe, which helped advance the case toward justice. His work was widely acknowledged within law enforcement circles for maintaining professionalism amid intense public scrutiny.
The official Republic Day honors list also includes several other CBI officers, who have been conferred the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and the Meritorious Service Medal in recognition of their exceptional contributions to law enforcement and criminal investigation.
According to government sources, these awards reflect the officers’ commitment to strengthening law and order, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring justice in complex and sensitive cases.
