Jaipur: A surge of icy winds from the north has triggered bone-chilling cold across Rajasthan, with temperatures in the Shekhawati region dropping below 2°C. Frost formation began in agricultural fields as dew froze overnight, causing damage to standing crops.
On Friday, over 15 cities across the state recorded temperatures in single digits. Jaipur also experienced its coldest night of the season, with temperatures slipping below 10°C for the first time.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Jaipur, has issued a warning for continued severe cold conditions over the next few days.
Despite bright sunshine during the day, cold winds have kept daytime temperatures low, and the sunlight has lost its intensity. Several major cities — including Alwar, Pilani, Sikar, Udaipur, Churu, Baran, Sirohi, Karauli, Pratapgarh, Jhunjhunu, and Pali — recorded maximum temperatures below 25°C.
Sirohi reported the coldest day, with the maximum temperature dropping to 22°C.

According to Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, the weather across Rajasthan will remain clear for the next week, with no major fluctuation in temperatures. In the Shekhawati belt, minimum temperatures are expected to stay between 3°C and 5°C, with the possibility of cold wave conditions in isolated areas.
