Back-to-Back Accidents in Howrah: Two Dead in Separate Crashes, Tension Erupts in Jagatballavpur

A series of road accidents in the Jagatballavpur area of Howrah created panic and anger among locals on Tuesday morning. Within a short span of time, two separate incidents resulted in deaths and injuries, leading to protests and vandalism by angry residents.

Police forces and the Rapid Action Force (RAF) were deployed to control the situation after the incidents sparked tension in the area.

Biker Killed After Being Hit by Bus

The second accident occurred near the Lalgate area of Jagatballavpur when a private long-distance bus reportedly hit a motorcycle while overtaking.

The biker, identified as Kingshuk Bhuiya, died on the spot due to the impact. Following the accident, enraged locals allegedly damaged the bus involved in the crash.

A large police team rushed to the scene to bring the situation under control as the tension escalated among residents.

Earlier Accident Leaves Woman Dead, Five Injured

Before this incident, another serious accident had already taken place in the same region earlier in the day.

In the Narendra­pur area of Jagatballavpur, a tanker reportedly lost control and crashed into an engine van carrying passengers before hitting two motorcycles.

A woman riding one of the bikes, identified as Jamima Yasmin, died at the scene. Five other people sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment. Police later detained the tanker involved in the accident.

Heavy Police Deployment to Control Situation

The back-to-back accidents heightened tension in the locality as residents expressed anger over road safety issues.

Authorities deployed a large police force along with RAF personnel to prevent further unrest and restore order in the area. Investigations are underway to determine the exact causes of the accidents.
