Lucknow: Former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur was brought by Lucknow Police on Wednesday to the main police station in Deoria for questioning. The entire police station was locked down and converted into a temporary cantonment during his two-hour interrogation.

According to the FIR, the case dates back to 1999. At that time, when Thakur served as Superintendent of Police (SP), he is accused of abusing his power to obtain an industrial plot in Deoria in his wife’s name through allegedly forged documents. The complaint — filed by a citizen who claimed to have been misled — alleges that false identity details and forged addresses from Bihar were used to secure the plot.

Late Tuesday night police intercepted Amitabh Thakur at a railway station in Shahjahanpur and escorted him to Lucknow. From there, he was taken to Deoria Sadar police station for interrogation. No outsiders — including media or locals — were allowed entry, as the station was sealed off.
