Air India is preparing to implement a stricter health policy that links cabin crew fitness directly to their job roles and salaries. The airline will assess employees using Body Mass Index (BMI), and those outside acceptable limits may lose flying duties or face pay cuts.
BMI-Based Rules To Decide Flying Eligibility
The new policy, effective May 1, classifies crew into categories based on BMI. A range of 18–24.9 is considered normal, while higher or lower levels require medical and functional clearance.
Non-Compliance May Lead To Grounding And Pay Loss
Crew members who fail to meet standards may be removed from flight rosters and sent for reassessment. If they still do not qualify, they could be placed on leave without pay until they meet requirements
Strict Action For Obesity Category
Employees with a BMI above 30 face immediate grounding and salary impact. The airline aims to enforce global fitness standards and promote healthier lifestyles among staff.
