India’s Longest Runway Nears Completion
The upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar is set to feature a 3,900-metre runway, making it one of the longest in India. The runway is designed to support high-speed aircraft operations and handle large passenger volumes efficiently. Officials say it will significantly enhance aviation capacity in the Delhi-NCR region.
Advanced Technology for All-Weather Operations
The airport will use CAT-3 Instrument Landing System technology, allowing aircraft to land and take off even during dense fog. This system ensures uninterrupted operations, especially during North India’s winter season. The runway and lighting systems also support 24×7 flight movement.
Boost to Connectivity and Economy
Strategically located in Uttar Pradesh, the airport aims to ease congestion at Delhi’s existing airport while boosting regional connectivity. In its first phase, it is expected to handle around 12 million passengers annually, with future expansion planned to accommodate much higher traffic.
