New Delhi: Fresh revelations have surfaced in the ongoing investigation into the recent Delhi car blast near Red Fort. Delhi Police have issued an alert to trace a red Ford EcoSport car (registration number DL10CK0458), registered under the name of Dr. Umar Un Nabi. Sources suggest that the suspects, apart from the Hyundai i20 used in the blast, were also using this vehicle — which may also contain explosives.
The alert has been extended to Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, with search operations intensified across state borders.
According to intelligence reports, the terror plot involved plans to carry out 200 IED blasts, reminiscent of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. The terrorists allegedly aimed to target Delhi, Gurugram, and Faridabad, with key landmarks such as the Red Fort, India Gate, Constitution Club, and Gauri Shankar Temple on their radar. Major railway stations and shopping malls across the country were also potential targets.
Investigations indicate that the conspiracy had been in motion since January 2025, with links traced to Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed. The operatives reportedly sought to spark communal unrest by attacking religious sites. To avoid detection, they recruited doctors from Pulwama, Shopian, and Anantnag in Kashmir, enabling them to move freely across regions.
PM Modi Visits Blast Victims
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited LNJP Hospital on Wednesday to meet those injured in the Red Fort blast. He arrived directly from his Bhutan visit and spent about 30 minutes interacting with the victims.
In a post on X, Modi stated, “Those who conspired to harm the nation will be punished.” Later this evening, the PM will chair a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), where Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to present a detailed report on the incident.

- The DNA sample of Dr. Umar’s mother has been collected and sent to AIIMS Forensic Lab for analysis.
- The Hyundai i20 used in the explosion was sold by ‘Royal Car Zone’, a second-hand car showroom in Faridabad. The owner has been detained for questioning.
- Al Falah University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Bhupinder Kaur has denied claims that chemicals were brought into the campus.
- Investigators have collected around 40 samples from the blast site; preliminary tests indicate traces of ammonium nitrate in one of them.
As multiple agencies continue to investigate, sources indicate that more details regarding the explosives and the wider terror network could be made public following the CCS meeting.
