India’s largest airline IndiGo has appointed global aviation veteran William “Willie” Walsh as its new Chief Executive Officer. The move comes after the resignation of former CEO Pieter Elbers in March 2026.
Walsh, who is currently Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), is expected to join IndiGo no later than August 3, 2026, after his IATA tenure ends on July 31, 2026. The appointment is subject to regulatory approvals.
