JAIPUR : Under the firm supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Hanuman Prasad (IPS), Jaipur Police have successfully cracked a series of copper theft cases that had been troubling the city over the past few weeks. A dedicated police team from Vaishali Nagar Police Station has arrested a suspect involved in multiple thefts of copper contact rods and electrical equipment from government power distribution boxes across the city.
According to the police report, complainant Mahesh Kumar Nama, a Junior Engineer residing in Pansheel Vihar, Jaipur, reported several incidents of theft that occurred between October 16 and October 26, 2025. The thefts took place at various locations, including:
- Near BMW Showroom, Sirsi Road
- Near Metro Hospital, Officers Campus
- Near Sanskar School
- Near Ratanbagh Marriage Garden, Sirsi Road
- Near Mosaic Hotel, Officers Campus
- Near Plot No. 143, Hanuman Nagar Extension
- Near Gate No. 1, Anand Nagar (Agon Electric)
- Near Plot No. 147, Janak Marg, Hanuman Nagar
In all these cases, unknown miscreants had stolen copper contact rods and copper wires from electrical LT boxes belonging to the government. Based on the complaint, FIR No. 435/2025 was registered under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 at Vaishali Nagar Police Station, and a special investigation team was formed to trace the culprits and recover the stolen property.
Investigation and Arrest
Under the supervision of Additional DCP (West) Alok Singhal and guidance of ACP Vaishali Nagar Anil Sharma, Inspector Rajesh Kumar Singh led the investigation team comprising Head Constables Parvat Singh (1133), Surendra Kumar (2169), Deepchand (11209), Ashish Kumar (10939), and Vinod Kumar (11933).
The team analyzed CCTV footage, gathered technical and human intelligence, and acted upon a tip-off from a confidential informant, leading to the arrest of the accused — Sabban Hussain alias Raju, son of Ladan Hussain, aged 28, belonging to Bhadsiya Bhamuhiya village, Badaun district, Uttar Pradesh, and currently residing behind Diamond Complex, Jhotwara, Jaipur.
Upon intensive interrogation, the accused confessed to committing the thefts and disclosed the location of the stolen copper materials, which were subsequently recovered by the police.
Modus Operandi
The accused used to survey (recce) the targeted areas during the day and return at night to cut wires and steal copper materials from LT electric boxes. His method was precise and planned, focusing on areas with minimal public movement and weak surveillance coverage.

The key role in arresting and detaining the accused was played by Head Constable Surendra Kumar (2169), Constable Ashish Kumar (10939), and Constable Deepchand (11209), whose prompt action led to the breakthrough in the case.
Ongoing Investigation
Police officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to identify any accomplices or scrap dealers involved in purchasing the stolen copper. Authorities have also intensified patrolling and surveillance around sensitive public infrastructure to prevent similar incidents in the future.
