New Delhi, November 10, 2025 (PMG Media): A powerful explosion near the Lal Quila (Red Fort) Metro Station in Old Delhi on Monday evening has left at least eight people dead and more than 20 injured, prompting a nationwide high alert across several states including Delhi, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.
Explosion Near Heritage Site
According to Delhi Police officials, the blast occurred around 6:50 PM in a parked car near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, one of the busiest routes in central Delhi. The explosion was so intense that three nearby vehicles caught fire, causing panic among commuters and local residents.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud sound followed by flames engulfing the area. Fire and rescue teams rushed to the spot and managed to control the blaze after nearly an hour of operation.
Police and Government Response
Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blast. He added that all possibilities—including a terror angle—are being investigated.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams have been called to examine the site.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached the Delhi Police Headquarters and reviewed the situation. He assured the public that the culprits will be identified soon.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the victims’ families and directed agencies to provide every possible assistance.
High Alert Issued Across States
Following the explosion, security has been tightened in major metro cities including Mumbai, Jaipur, Bhopal, and Lucknow. Police have increased patrolling near metro stations, crowded markets, and key landmarks.
Intelligence agencies have also been instructed to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately.
Investigation and Current Situation
Officials are currently working to identify the type of explosive used and whether the blast was accidental or deliberate. No terror group has claimed responsibility so far.
The area surrounding Red Fort, Chandni Chowk, and Daryaganj has been sealed, and the metro station was temporarily closed for public safety. Traffic in the area has been diverted as forensic teams continue their examination.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain calm and avoid spreading rumors on social media. Commuters are advised to use alternate metro routes and stay updated through official Delhi Metro and Police handles.
