The question asked candidates to identify a word for “a person who changes according to circumstances,” with ‘Pandit’ listed alongside other options. Critics argued that including ‘Pandit’, a term traditionally denoting a learned scholar and linked with a specific community, was inappropriate in this context.
Political Objections and Inquiry Ordered
BJP leaders, including state office-bearer Abhijat Mishra, wrote to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, calling the question insensitive and demanding action. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said the government had taken serious note and ordered an immediate inquiry into the matter.
