Iranian President Sends Message to Gulf Countries Amid Regional Tensions
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that Iran will not attack its Gulf neighbours unless strikes against Iran are launched from their territory. The message was delivered in a televised address amid rising tensions in West Asia.
Pezeshkian apologised to the affected neighbouring countries for earlier Iranian missile and drone strikes. He described the Gulf nations as brothers and urged them not to allow their land or military bases to be used for operations against Iran.
He emphasised that regional cooperation is important to prevent further escalation and maintain peace and stability in the Gulf. The statement particularly addressed countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait, many of which host foreign military facilities.
The remarks come as the ongoing conflict in the region has disrupted energy markets, increased oil prices and raised concerns over the safety of key shipping routes like the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has repeatedly said it does not wish to target its neighbours but will respond if its territory faces attacks launched from their soil. While Pezeshkian’s message was seen as an attempt at de-escalation, mixed signals have emerged from different Iranian authorities, and some strikes were reported even after the address.
Diplomatic efforts by several countries are continuing to reduce tensions and avoid a wider regional war. The situation continues to be closely monitored for its potential impact on global energy supplies and trade.
