Political Storm Over Kharat Case
The arrest of self-styled godman Ashok Kharat in a rape case has triggered a major political controversy in Maharashtra. Amid mounting pressure, Maharashtra State Commission for Women chief Rupali Chakankar resigned following criticism over her alleged association with Kharat. Meanwhile, authorities have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case, as more victims are reportedly coming forward with allegations.
