The suicide of a Punjab Warehousing Corporation officer has triggered a major political controversy, with serious allegations against minister Laljit Singh Bhullar.
Officer Names Minister Before Death
Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, a district manager, allegedly consumed poison on March 21 and recorded a video blaming Bhullar for pressuring him over a warehouse tender. He claimed fear drove him to take the extreme step.
Family Alleges Threats and Assault
In an FIR, Randhawa’s wife accused the minister of repeatedly forcing her husband to alter a tender in favour of his associates. She alleged he was threatened, assaulted, and even held at gunpoint during a meeting at the minister’s residence.
Probe Ordered, Political Reactions Intensify
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has ordered an inquiry and asked Bhullar to step down to ensure fairness. Police have filed a case under charges including abetment to suicide. Opposition leaders have demanded a CBI probe, calling the incident a serious law-and-order failure.
