Jaipur: A speeding Fortuner created chaos in Jaipur on Monday night after crashing into multiple vehicles and injuring several people. Angry locals vandalised the SUV with sticks and stones before handing the driver over to the police. Eyewitnesses claim the driver was heavily intoxicated.
Multiple Vehicles Hit in High-Speed Drive
According to the police, the incident took place around 11 pm in Azad Nagar on Tonk Road. The Fortuner driver was speeding through narrow lanes when he collided with several parked and moving vehicles, causing widespread alarm.
Pedestrians Hit, 6–7 Injured
The out-of-control SUV also struck a few pedestrians on the road, leading to a wave of panic. Around 6–7 people were injured in the accident, and some of them are reported to be in serious condition. After causing the collisions, the driver attempted to flee with the vehicle.
Bike Trapped Under Front Tyre, Locals Outraged
One motorcycle was dragged under the front tyre of the Fortuner after being hit. This triggered massive outrage among residents, who gathered at the spot in large numbers. Enraged by the driver’s reckless behaviour, the crowd began smashing the SUV with sticks and stones.
Police Intervene, Injured Shifted to Hospital
Sanganer police reached the scene following information about the chaos. Officers shifted the injured to a hospital for immediate treatment and dispersed the crowd. The Fortuner was seized, and the driver was taken into custody.
