CBI Registers Fresh FIR Against Anil Ambani and Reliance Communications in Bank Fraud Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a fresh FIR against industrialist Anil Ambani and Reliance Communications (RCom) in connection with an alleged bank fraud involving loans worth over ₹1,085 crore.

The case was filed based on a complaint from Punjab National Bank (PNB) and the erstwhile United Bank of India. The alleged irregularities occurred between 2013 and 2017.

Allegations of Loan Diversion

According to the FIR, company officials are accused of criminal conspiracy, cheating banks, and diverting funds for purposes other than those approved in the loan agreements. This allegedly caused a wrongful loss of ₹1,085 crore to the lenders.

Part of Multiple Probes

This FIR is part of multiple ongoing investigations against RCom and its promoters. Separate complaints from other public sector banks have also led to parallel probes into alleged fund misuse.

Investigation Underway

CBI teams have conducted searches at locations linked to the company and individuals. The agency is examining financial records and documents. The investigation is currently ongoing.
