The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cancelled all remaining Class 12 board examinations scheduled in several Middle East countries due to rising regional tensions linked to the ongoing US-Iran conflict.
Exams Cancelled Across Seven Countries
According to an official circular issued on March 15, all Class 12 exams scheduled from March 16 to April 10, 2026 have been cancelled for students studying in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The decision affects thousands of students enrolled in more than 150 CBSE-affiliated schools across the region. The board said it reviewed the situation and consulted schools and local authorities before taking the step.
Earlier Exams and Postponed Papers Also Cancelled
Several examinations had already been conducted earlier between February 17 and February 28 before the conflict disrupted schedules. Papers that were postponed earlier due to the security situation have now also been cancelled.
Result Declaration to Be Announced Later
CBSE officials said the process for evaluating students and declaring results will be announced later. The board emphasized that student safety and well-being remain the top priority amid the ongoing tensions in the region.
