New Delhi: Gold and silver prices touched record highs on 23 January 2026 in both domestic and international markets, driven by a weak US dollar, rising geopolitical tensions, and growing demand for safe-haven assets.
In the international market, gold was trading close to $4,950 per ounce, while silver also climbed to fresh highs. In the Indian market, gold prices surged to around ₹1,58,500 per 10 grams, while silver jumped to a record level of about ₹3,36,900 per kilogram. Both precious metals have hit new lifetime peaks, creating strong buzz among investors and buyers.
Market experts say the rally is mainly supported by a weak dollar, global economic uncertainty, and geopolitical risks, which are pushing investors towards safe assets like gold and silver. On the MCX (Multi Commodity Exchange) as well, prices of both metals continued to rise, reflecting strong demand in the domestic market.
With the current trend, some investors believe that prices could move even higher in the coming weeks, while others caution that volatility may increase due to profit-booking and global developments. For now, the sharp rise clearly indicates that gold and silver are once again being seen as the safest investment options amid uncertain global economic conditions.
