Prakash Raj Takes a Dig at The Kerala Story 2 With Beef & Pork Photos After Anurag Kashyap Slams the Film

The upcoming Bollywood film The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond has triggered a fresh round of controversy even before its scheduled theatrical release on 27 February 2026. What started with criticism from filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who labelled the film as “propaganda,” soon drew a sharp social media response from actor Prakash Raj.

Anurag Kashyap’s Criticism Sparks Debate

Anurag Kashyap, known for his candid views, publicly criticised The Kerala Story 2 during a media interaction, calling it “bull**** propaganda” and dismissing a scene depicting a controversial beef-eating sequence as unrealistic. He questioned the film’s motives, suggesting it was designed more for commercial gain than artistic value.

The backlash wasn’t limited to industry voices alone. Political figures, including Kerala’s Chief Minister, also weighed in, arguing that the film could undermine social harmony and misrepresent Kerala’s secular heritage.

Prakash Raj’s Social Media Response

In a notable counter-comment, actor Prakash Raj took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account with an unconventional response. Instead of directly addressing the film’s narrative, he shared vivid photos of Kerala’s famous food culture — including beef fry, pork dishes, fish curry, and the vegetarian Onam sadya. His caption read:

“The real #KeralaStory is how pork, beef and fish coexist with vegetarian sadya and all of them live in harmony. Please relish… happy Sunday everyone.”

This post was widely interpreted as a critique of the film’s portrayal of social and cultural dynamics, suggesting that Kerala’s diverse food traditions reflect coexistence and unity rather than division.

Director’s Reaction to Prakash Raj

The director of The Kerala Story 2, Kamakhya Narayan Singh, later reacted strongly to Prakash Raj’s comments. He labelled the actor “intellectually bankrupt” and expressed disappointment over Raj’s stance, underscoring the expanding divide between filmmakers, critics, and industry voices in this unfolding controversy.

What This Means for The Kerala Story 2

The film’s trailer — which juxtaposes tales of romance, conversion, and conflict — has been at the centre of these disputes. While the makers maintain the film is inspired by real incidents, critics argue it promotes misleading narratives and stokes communal tensions.

With both industry veterans and political figures joining the debate, The Kerala Story 2 has become one of the most polarising Bollywood releases ahead of its launch.
